Brahmbhatt is the daughter of Congressman Narendra Brahmbhatt who had contested the AMC election in 2000. She often says that her father is her inspiration to enter into social life. Being the younger of the two siblings, she always had an eye towards the corporate market. After earning the BBA degree from the city, she went on to do a master’s from University of Westminster, London. She worked as an investment banker with HSBC and Darashaw. She also wanted ti do political leader course in IIM Banglore.

“I had to choose between my job and the course and I chose the latter,” Brahmbhatt said. “I was among the 26 women and the only person from Gujarat in that course, which aims to create women leadership in parliament and legislative assemblies. During and after the course I met Congress leaders. I also got the UN scholarship afterwards.”

She said that she got a chance to fight the elections in the year 2012 but couldn’t pursue it because she was all focused on her career.

She said “I got a plot in the Sanand GIDC for women entrepreneurs for an ice cream plant. It was during this period that I faced the reality,” . “Despite initiatives such as Stand Up India to promote women entrepreneurs, I had to go up to ministries to secure a loan. I could have gone abroad to work but I decided to persist. By that time, the economic environment was not favourable. Meanwhile, I was approached by the Congress.”

“The constituency has a 75% voter base consisting of persons under 40 and women,” she said. “Youth and women empowerment are my two focus areas.”  “My only issue is, we tend to stoop so low in the name of politics,” she said. “People are going to follow leaders and thus we have to set good example. There should be a space for dissent. I chose the Congress for the ideology of democracy, socialism and secularism.”
